Customers who seek out window tinting for their vehicle here in the state of Arkansas must know the rules and regulations that pertain to tinting your windows appropriately. We at Paint Protection Specialists follow these regulations strictly so our customers do not have to worry while driving on the streets of Cabot or in any other area they may reside in our great state of Arkansas.
Two of the most prominent rules that vehicle owners must abide by with regard to window tinting regulations have to do with Visible Light Transmission (VLT) and reflectiveness of window tints. VLT pertains to how much natural light can pass through your window tint film package, and the reflectiveness is based on how it appears on the OUTSIDE of your vehicle. Here are the rules and regulations about both VLT and reflectiveness for the state of Arkansas:
Window tinting for smaller vehicles, such as sedans and compact cars, MUST allow for up to 25% VLT on the front AND back driver and passenger side windows. The rear windshield must allow for up to 10% VLT, which means they can be DARKER than the other windows. The windshield strip of a smaller vehicle can only cover the top 5 inches and be NON-REFLECTIVE.
For larger vehicles, such as vans, SUVs, and trucks, much of the same rules of VLT apply. The front driver and passenger side windows must allow for 25% VLT, the windshield strip can only cover the top 5 inches and be non-reflective, and the rear windshield can be as low as 10% VLT. The difference here is the rear driver and passenger side windows, which can be as low as 10% VLT as well.
NONE of these parts to your window tinting package can be metallic or mirrored whatsoever. If you would like to get more information about these regulations or to have us answer any questions about the ones discussed here, please call (501) 628-7646.
